Final Fantasy XVI is crammed with narrative momentum. Which is amazing, until it’s time to do things like sidequests and DLC. Then the guillotine of the climax hangs over your head, impatient and sharp. In other words, it’s hard for me to get as invested in the DLC as I’d like. The combat is terrific, the new dungeon is beautiful, but it feels like I’m spinning my wheels. At the same time, I’ll take any excuse to spend more time with this game. Echoes of The Fallen is a great addition to a perfect Final Fantasy Experience.
Final Fantasy XVI Echoes of The Fallen serves as a refresher into the realm of Valisthea, bringing with it increased level cap, new gear, and some new bosses. It doesn't last long, clocking in at around two hours, but it does just enough to keep you curious for what comes next.
This just confirms that we will always want more FF16! These guys make the best boss battles of all time!!
I am really happy with the new enemy design, something the main game lacked is enemies being aggressive and oh boy this DLC delivers, please add a new difficulty for the base game and make them as aggressive, even the basic enemies, many would love the challenge!
Story was alright but bosses and gameplay 10/10!
New Relics and Weapons are great, wouldn't complain if there were new cosmetics for the characters.
Hopefully the next DLC contains insane Eikon battle and please make a DLC for an Odin fight... Please!!
There may not be a lot to say about Final Fantasy XVI Echoes of the Fallen, but that doesn’t necessarily signify a lack of quality. Its few hours of gameplay offer an enjoyable dungeon experience with memorable enemy encounters that rival and even surpass those in the base game. While the narrative may not be the main attraction, it does set the stage for The Rising Tide DLC, which has been confirmed to be a more substantial experience. Ultimately, Echoes of the Fallen is a worthwhile addition for fans, while those who are more hesitant should exercise caution.
Echoes of the Fallen is another dose of more Final Fantasy XVI. It's not a game changer and it's very short, but if you liked the main game, here you will find an extra chapter with the same level of spectacle and epicness.
The Echoes of the Fallen DLC revolves around one idea and one idea only: to add the "endgame" component to Final Fantasy 16, which was sorely missed at the time of the original launch. Its four hours of content serve as a pleasant supplement to Clive Rosfield's adventure, but they have no intention of bringing about revolutions or introducing major innovations, leaving the strengths and weaknesses of the original work unchanged. The design, music, lore, and staging are sensational, but the overall experience architecture remains untouched. It is unlikely that the expansion will change the minds of early critics, but it will be a very welcome surprise for those who have yet to experience the sixteenth chapter.
Final Fantasy XVI: Echoes of the Fallen delivers beautiful scenes and incredible action but falters a bit with an anticlimactic ending. There is plenty to enjoy for fans of the main game, but the lack of a great ending means it fails to live up to the lofty expectations set by the main game.
Always a pleasure to have more of the fantastic story of ff16, although just an extra long level still excellent with one of the best boss fights in the whole game which is saying something. The lore of this final fantasy world may just be up there with the world of the Witcher, I loved game of thrones so from the very beginning this world had me, despite its many pacing problems and the horrendous side quest quality of animations, this game and dlc are up there with my favourites of all time.
This DLC is literally just an extra dungeon and it just felt so damn short. I wish they'd have added some story and dialogue before you enter the dungeon to give this some padding, but it just felt barebones.
On the positive side, the dungeon is really cool looking and the boss fight at the end is a blast (with great music too!)
Mid DLC and I hope the one they add in the Spring is more fleshed out.
Hoped for way more after all this time... Was expecting some serious end-game content, instead it's one on-rail chapter with some fighting. Sure, the bosses were cool and decent, but the story was quite inconsequential (just a bit less pointless than most sidequests in the base game).
And the crappy item system is getting even more crap here... Now if you don't feel like getting the best weapon, belt and bracer from the base game (it takes time and is rather difficult) - just start this quest, you quite quickly get even stronger ones... Which will make obtaining them easier and pointless...
They could have added some bounties at least... maybe some sidequests... and some repeatable content maybe... something to grind... dunno... anything that would take more than those .... 3-4 hours?
Also hearing a lot about this being more difficult - yeah, sure, if you haven't played FF XVI for the last few months and got rusty as hell then it will be a bit more difficult -_-
Hoping the next one is better...
