Laika: Aged Through Blood is a metroidvania that experiments in interesting way with stunts and slow motion in combat and exploration thanks to the motorbike mechanics. It has a wonderful diegetic soundtrack and a cruel plot well screenplayed with some great ludonarrative moments.
I have been playing video games for 9-10 years now. (I'm 18 now). I've seen horror, shooters, rpg's and other games. Recently, Baldzrus Gate 3 came out and I thought nothing would surprise me.I was wrong.I accidentally stumbled upon this game and literally after an hour of playing, I cried like a little girl, even though I'm in sports (boxing) and quite large. But this game... will just stay in my heart forever. So... pros:1)Graphics? Gorgeous! It's like the developers drew it themselves.2)Characters? Gorgeous! Well developed. Some are sympathetic, some are not. Especially, I sympathise with the anthropomorphic characters. But why don't they have Tails...? Okay, maybe it was either too hard to draw them. Or maybe that's just the idea.3)Plot. I won't spoiler, the plot is great, it answers a lot of questions and it's very harmonious and enjoyable. BUT IT DOESN'T ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS! After the game, there are a couple of questions left that we never got an answer to.4)shooting. This is for the amateur. For me it was something new, to ride a bike and shoot villains. At first it is unusual and difficult, then you get used to it, and then it brings only pleasure.Bottom line: what's the bottom line!? I'M WAITING FOR THE CONTINUATION OF THE GAME! Not just a DLC, but a full-fledged continuation.
Gorgeous game that made me cry just getting through the tutorial story arc. You'd never expect Happy Wheels of all things to mesh so well with the metroidvania genre, but it blends in a unique mesh of managing several different difficult controls at once in a way that feels incredibly satisfying when you finally pull off a big combo mowing down **** visuals are clearly designed with care, the soundtrack is superb, if not a lil repetitive, at least until you unlock a few tracks, and the characters range from charming to loathsome in the best possible way.
EXTREMELY gruesome, but EXTREMELY recommended. Wish I knew a better way to convince people to give this game a look because it 100% deserves your time and attention.
Laika: Aged Through Blood is an unrelenting motorcycle ride through a bloody wasteland with one of the most unique and compelling spins on the metroidvania genre. It expertly blends ruthless death-defying combat with a beautiful hand-painted side scrolling world with a riveting story of revenge, desperation, and survival. Though uncompromising in its insistence that you quickly become adept at handling your bike in addition to taking on multiple threats, a heaping helping of checkpoints guarantees revenge is always within striking distance. If you’ve ever considered yourself a fan of exploring and platforming across 2D landscapes, you’ll find these open roads well worth your time.
It's extremely difficult to present something completely fresh in a metroidvania game but Laika: Aged Through Blood achieves that hard-earned goal. Thanks to the well-made motorbike handling and clever ideas in regards to shooting, alongside a touching and dramatic story this "motorvania" is a must addition to the fans of the genre.
Laika: Aged Through Blood is a blend between motor racing and gun action that feels somewhat similar to the Trials series. While the exploration elements don’t quite hit, shooting at enemies while riding a bike feels fresh and satisfying. Elements besides the gameplay, such as a melancholic soundtrack, are also well executed, and the story that depicts the relationship between Laika and her daughter feels novel in an action game like this.
When it works, Laika: Aged Through Blood is top-notch entertainment in prime time, and proof that suddenly there is pure innovation on the indie scene worthy of mainstream attention.
Original gameplay for a metroidvania (aka Motorvabia), very challenging gameplay (sometimes a bit difficult, but like that).
The most enjoyable parts are the narratives ones that give you time too rest.
This game is probably going to be my GOTY, due to the fact that it has a a lot of game mechanics. Not only that but a lot of gameplay for $20 ($18 for the introductory sale).
