Overall, I’d say The Crew Motorfest is a big step up from the prior games in the series, and gives some hope for additional variety in open world racers in the future. Granted, it sticks pretty close to the same formula that Forza Horizon has, but there’s enough differences between the two to make this still feel like a worthwhile use of your time. It’s a gorgeous game in motion as well, which doesn’t hurt. As far as complaints go, mine are pretty minor, in that I don’t care for the limited fast travel system that’s only tied to the intro areas for each Playlist, and I wish the server didn’t time out as quickly as it does when you go idle. Outside of that, I’ve really dug Ubisoft’s latest attempt at an open-world racer, and I think you will too.
Even with questionable aspects such as the premium currency, The Crew Motorfest has tons of style and quality flashes, with a solid proposal that can connect with the most eclectic speed lovers (one race you are in the mud, the next on F1). Too bad that aspects such as the improvable multiplayer, or the "always online", affect the final result.
One of the best arcade racing games I've ever played, right up there with the Forza Horizon series. Stunning graphics, smooth gameplay, almost no bugs whatsoever. 15 hours of non-stop fun, all 15 playlists have different themes and playstyle, so you will always be playing something fresh and interesting. If you like Forza Horizon, you will love this game.
The best The Crew game,it's a huge improvement compared to the crew 2, the graphics are beautiful, the cars sounds are amazing and the controls feels smooth. The only bad thing for me is the connection with friends because sometimes they desappear.
Beautiful, rich in content, varied in what it offers, The Crew Motorfest is a very good 100% arcade open world racing game. Riding on the heels of Forza Horizon, it is currently one of the most successful clones of the genre leader, even if this means that the French studio preferred to take the lead from its British competitor rather than plow its own furrow. The Ivory Tower software is more effective than surprising, but its qualities are numerous enough that we do not look at its predecessors, in retro, with regrets.
I really wasn’t expecting Motorfest to be that big of a step forward for The Crew, but I’m pleased that I was wrong. All the major aspects of gameplay have been massively improved from its predecessor with the racing engine, events system, and reward loop each being better than before. While The Crew 2 only attracted a niche fanbase because of its unique gimmicks, Motorfest has a much broader appeal.
The Crew: Motorfest is exactly what you expect if you have played the previous parts. A large, open environment to race around in is never boring. The game is rich with vehicles and various activities, good for dozens of hours of fun. It is notable, however, that the side activities exceed the number of races in volume, which is a somewhat odd balance. Also, the ghosts of other (AI) racers are confusing and the menu is chaotic, but that does not take anything away from the fact that there is a lot of fun to be had in this game.
It's not a frustrating game, nor is it a bad proposal, but it does fall halfway down the road by failing to stand out. The open world that invites us to go through the playlists, before unlocking fast travel, is aesthetically appealing, but it feels like a ghost town where nothing happens and our gameplay loop lacks basic fun. The playlists are a great aspect, but not all of them are interesting to explore, leaving aside the strong offering of vehicles with anecdotal experiences that aren't all that worthwhile. On the plus side, it continues to appeal to arcade adrenaline. While it wants to copy something that was previously successful, it doesn't end up being a meaningless copy.
This game is basically Forza Horizon but for Playstation 5 ( I know it’s on Xbox too) and the graphics and illumination looks beautiful and the races looks fun. The problem is the the driving is garbage, it feels better in Forza and The Crew 1 and 2. Because Handling is awful, the cars drift a lot when they weren’t supposed to and it takes a lot of time to turn and the brakes feel bad. Is just tedious to drive like that and it’s not fun.
Good alternative for Forza Horizon series, and pretty good game overall (much better than previous titles in the series), but the handling model, as well as the sense of speed, are still way worse than in said Forza series.
This game gave me a lot of ups and downs. I played countless hours in it, i'm playing in grand races all day long but I can't help to feel disturbed by minor and major inconveniences.
For starters, the pros are numerous. Graphics are good, the artistic design is beautiful af and the content is original and diversified with a lot of interesting cars. The online part of the game isn't half bad either. The concept of the grand races is funny, chaotic and yet competitive.
However, there are a lot of cons in this game that can affect whether or not you have a good time playing. The car physics is a little bit messy even for an arcade game, some cars are really good to drive but sometimes the physics messes up and the car reacts weirdly (random oversteer or drift, weird reactions offroad and so on) and overall it makes the drive very tedious and frustrating at times. Let's not talk about cars that arent "meta" because they're a pain to drive : they are unstable, randomly reacting to controls and you cant predict how you'll take the curve. Even with aids (i strongly recommend using some aids cuz it makes the drive better and in online it's just common sense in this game if you want to be competitive...)
Sometimes, the physics becomes "heavy" for no reason and it makes ALL car understeer and it's definitely a bug, I have many proofs to that, i think it's because of the online servers (this game is only playable online and for some reasons having a good wifi instead of a decent ethernet makes you lag as hell, there is defintely an issue with servers in this game). This freaking bug ruins some of my races and it ruins my fun, luckily it happens once in 10 races or so but sometimes it lasts many races... With some dead zone on my controler, the bug literally made my car go straight without even turning the wheels, i had to remove all the dead zone to make the bug "decent"... I mean I literally bought a new controler for that review and I still have that bug, it's not on me for sure.
Another issue, sometimes the planes are uncontrollable and crash themselves again and again aiming the ground and I cant do anything apart from leaving the game. It happened to me twice a row while I was in first position in both grand races. That's another bug that requires me to restart the game.
Apart from that, let's talk about grand races, a big part of the game if you intend to play it after the "story" completion. It's probably the best and the worst online system I've ever seen. Cant count how many races i've lost because of rammers, idiots, ppl that do not control their car and the more i play it, the more i hate that game. Some tracks are just overwhelmingly bad and overall, it's the same thing over and over again. Rally is the exact same thing as rally raid (coming from FH5 with it's excellent rally tracks and physics, it's such a disappointment), other sections look the same, have the same curves etc... It feels like half the tracks in this game use the same layouts every time, sometimes the game just changes the car category...
Then there is the meta in this game... At first, i used to think there was many good cars in this game, not understanding why lot of youtubers put x car abover everything else. Then I realised meta in this game = how good a car can drive in the dirt to cut the track. No matter how good you are, if you do not know the shortcuts + have the car to take them, you'll lose. And even if you manage to catch up, know that half the players in this game have 5 IQ and ram you off a wall or just use you as a cushion in every corners. If you manage to pull away, the slipstream (way too broken in this game) + the nitro (way too powerful aswell) will help him to catch you before the next corner to ram you off. The online in this game feels more about strategy than actual car races. Nitro management to overtake at the good moment, shortcut knowledge...
I really do love the work they put on this game and I cant help playing it even though I still largely prefer FH's gameplay. But those two random bugs + the fact the game is unstable on wifi when I'm not home (and the wifi is often way better than my ethernet), it just entirely ruins my fun. Add to that the randomness of the gameplay sometimes, the sloppy drift controls on rallycars/ raids and it forces me to put a 4 on a game I would love to put a 7.5/8 on.
the map is bad, not to mention we're at next gen, and these corporates doesn't take advantage of new consoles, this game should have been delayed, some of the songs is unlistenable, the ai is annoying and you literally have to go through her to change music, some songs is good mainly the old ones, the handling is good though, but the story is just bad, don't buy this garbage, just wait for sale or get it for Christmas since we are three months away
